UNESCO has declared 18 December World Arabic Language Day. What will your school do to celebrate?

The following Arabic text is from the UNESCO website. There are some questions below.

اعتمد اليونسكو يوم 18 كانون الأول/ديسمبر يوما عالميا للغة العربية

وجاء في القرار الذي اقترحته كل من المملكة المغربية والمملكة العربية السعودية، أن المجلس التنفيذي “يدرك ما للغة العربية من دور وإسهام في حفظ ونشر حضارة الإنسان وثقافته” وأن هذه اللغة “هي لغة اثنين وعشرين عضواً من الدول الأعضاء في اليونسكو وهي لغة رسمية في المنظمة ويتحدث بها ما يزيد عن 422 مليون عربي، ويستعملها أكثر من مليار ونصف من المسلمين”.

كما ذكرت اليونسكو بضرورة التعاون على أوسع نطاق بين الشعوب من خلال التعدد اللغوي والتقارب الثقافي والحوار الحضاري

بتاريخ 18 كانون الأول 1973 اعتمدت اللغة العربية ضمن اللغات الرسمية ولغات العمل المقررة في الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة.
