The Lord’s Prayer in Arabic

I’ve been asked to help a student of Arabic who is preparing for a visit to a church community in the Middle East. She wants to learn to follow the Lord’s prayer in Arabic. So I thought I’d share my notes for her here too.

This is the clearest reading I’ve found on YouTube, with fully voweled Arabic subtitles. What I have copied below is without the vowels. I’ve broken some of the lines up to make it clearer which bits match the English version.

Our Father who art in heaven

Hallowed be Thy name

Thy kingdom come

Thy will be done

On earth as it is in heaven (Ar: in heaven as it is on earth)

Give us this day our daily bread

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from evil

In Jesus Christ our Lord

For Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory

For ever and ever

Amen
